How Red Riding Hood Survived the Wolf a Second Time
Group “Let’s…” premiered the performance “How Red Riding Hood Survived the Wolf a Second Time” at the Pinocchio Puppet Theater on December 5, 2024, with two showings — at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
The performance, based on the audio book of the same name (from the Twisted Tails series — twistedtales.tv), addresses the issue of sexual violence at an early age and opens space for initiating dialogue with children on this topic. In this version of the well-known Red Riding Hood story, she is entering adolescence and carries a secret: that she experienced such a traumatic event when she was younger. Without the support she needed at the time, she repressed the memory. Thus, we find her at the beginning of adolescence, returning to the forest — the “scene of the event” — which reawakens buried memories and brings with them pain and suffering. At the same time, it becomes an opportunity to integrate that experience, and for Bjanka (her real name) to stop being Red Riding Hood. This is a way for theater to act preventively and provide support for children who find themselves in such situations.

The performance combines audio storytelling, acting, contemporary dance, interactive play, costume, music, and light design. During the performance, children sit on the floor around the edge of the stage (in a circle), while all the action takes place in the center. At certain moments, children are invited to engage in interactive activities directly related to the story’s theme.
