The Book Makes It Visible
Group “Let’s…” has been implementing various projects over the past several years under the program The Book Makes It Visible. The core idea of the program is to explore different topics, social issues, and phenomena through the analysis of literary works. It is intended for young people, youth workers, and trainers — especially those who work with or belong to marginalized groups (such as Roma youth, youth with disabilities, youth from rural areas, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, those with a history of violence, etc.).
Participants have the opportunity to engage with literature in a unique way — by using various dramatic and performative techniques to explore and reflect on important social questions and phenomena. The program also allows young people to express their views in a safe environment, consider others’ perspectives, and examine social issues from multiple viewpoints.
Literary works, together with drama techniques and performance, help them use their creative potential to think about how certain experiences can be transformed and presented as dramatic scenes — offering audiences material for reflection. Depending on the specific project, the program addresses various topics, including: intercultural understanding, human rights, national identity, cultural patterns, religious diversity and tolerance, power relations within society and between states, the individual and ideals, geopolitical prejudices, attitudes toward minorities, issues of human rights and gender roles, war and its consequences, fascism, extremism, and more.
